@Maria I like to use Avacado oil in vinaigrettes with a mild acid, usually citrus instead of a vinegar or simply drizzled on fish or chicken before grilling.
I do like it actually but it does take a lot more time if you don't count in the warm up time for a conventional fryer. It takes approx. 40 mins to do 2lbs of potatoes but I usually leave them in a bit longer for a crispier product. I don't think it's any healthier given you are using cold oil to start with but it's a lot cleaner, safer and easier to use in the home. Plus you don't get that overwhelming "fryer" smell. I've used it on sweet potatoes and russets with a couple different oils so far; all with good results. I've yet to try out any other food items like shrimp or chicken wings but I'm sure in time I will.
Since Avocado oil is so expensive ..........maybe I will use it on my face instead......it probably is better than any creams one buys at the drug store.........it might be even good to drink it to reduce cholesterol levels.......what do you all think about these thoughts?????
You could do that, I'm sure it would do wonders for your skin and cholesterol but you might as well just use fresh avacado for that. It will be cheaper and get the same results. Just use the oil for a nice vinaigrette or as a finishing drizzle on a dish.
I forgot to add that I live in a truly unique part of Canada and I am surrounded by wonderful producers. This is a local organization that promotes the local food scene.
