Pam...........you would be surprised......children really get into this kind of work....boys like to eat the candies more than decorated it.....when they get to be a little older ...10 yrs or older....the younger ones love to decorate with the help of an adult....All the children are accompanied by an adult.....

When my son was just about 3 years old...I poured out a 5 lb bag of flour onto the kitchen floor for him to play like in a sand box...he took his little matchbox cars and made tracks in the flour and played for hours....while I baked Christmas Cookies --he looked like a little snowman when we both were finished....with baking and playing........

He is a very cook now is married and has 2 children....I asked him a while back how he learned to cook since he never actually cooked with me...this was his answer: "But, Mom....I learned by osmosis....I was always around you ....cooking..."

I think thats fantastic that ya'll cook with your grandkids. My son was raised in various kitchens, but we work in the business. On the whole, however, I think kids have become victims of fast and processed foods and the thought of cooking is no longer a magical and wonderful experience.

I sooooooooo agree with you...Larry..........my son never cooked with me in my home - but he was always in the kitchen with me...
